Culture and local history lovers can make their dreams come true by taking one of the local city tour buses. They come and leave every few minutes and stop at all the important historical sites in the city. Also the seats and the environment on the buses are comfortable. Now, more and more cities are facing problems, such as high housing costs, pollution and crime. Let’s see what people in Hyderabad, India and in Sao Paulo, Brazil do to solve (解决) the problems.
Hyderabad, India
To improve people’s lives, Hyderabad is planting more and more trees. The city is even creating
greener buildings that use less water and less electricity for power. Adding green to a city has a number of advantages. For example, trees make the air cleaner. In Hyderabad, streets were grey and dirty in the past. However, today they are filled with trees and flowers, making the city cleaner and more colourful. Green areas also give people places to relax or exercise. A study in the USA shows an interesting thing: the greener a neighborhood is, the less crime there is.
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Many people work in the centre of Sao Paulo, but they don’t live there. They’ve spread out to neighborhoods outside the city because housing is cheaper. Every day, these people travel into the city, and traffic is very heavy. City planners are using different ways to deal with (处理) the problem. First, they are building better subways. Another goal is to make it cheaper for people to live in the downtown area (中心区). Doing this will reduce traffic and pollution in the city. What does the underlined word “greener” mean?Which advantage of making Hyderabad greener is NOT talked about in the passage?According to the passage, what problem does Sao Paulo have?

The Xin’an Street Community(社区)began three programs not long ago.
The Neighborhood Clean-up Program
Every Sunday at 5:00pm, the neighbors begin cleaning Xin’an Street from one end to the other. The head of the Community, Zhao Fuqin, said, “The first Sunday, only eleven people came, but we picked up over seven big bags of rubbish (垃圾)from the sidewalk and street. The next weekend, twenty people came, and filled eight rubbish bags. Now the neighborhood really looks great!”
The Neighborhood Watch Program
The neighbors on Xin’an Street began this program to look for problems in the neighborhood and to call the police if necessary. The neighbors all say the watch has already helped.
SunYan, aged 60, a retired teacher, said, “In the past, I felt afraid at night. Now I know my neighbors are watching for trouble. ” According to the police, there are fewer problems on Xin’an Street. “Calls to 110 went down last month.
Criminals knew that the people on Xin’an Street were watching, so they stayed away,” said a policeman.
The Neighborhood Fitness Program
A Health Club was built last month, where the neighbors can do different kinds of sports like basketball, ping-pong ball, tennis, etc. “Every morning you can see groups of neighbors running, dancing and playing Taijiquan. We have come to realize the importance of taking exercise,” said Chen Jinliang, a businessman of 45.

If you go to Finland, you’ll be surprised to find how “foolish” the Finnish people are.
Take the taxi drivers for example. Taxis in Finland are mostly high class Benz with a fare (票价) of two US dollars a kilometer. You can go anywhere in one, tell the driver to drop you at any place, say that you have some business to attend to, and then get off without paying your fare. And the driver would not show the least sign of worry.
The dining rooms in all big hotels not only serve their guests, but also outside diners. Hotel guests have their meals free, so their good faith is to wave their registration card to the waiter. With such a loose check, you can easily use any old registration card to take a couple of friends and dine free of charge.
With so many loopholes (漏洞) in everyday life, surely Finland must be a heaven to those who love to take “pretty advantages”. But the strange things is, all the taxi-passengers would always come back to pay their fare after they have attended to their business; not a single outsider has ever been found in the free hotel dining rooms. As the Finns always act on good faith and always show an attitude of “which is which” and “what is what” in everything they do, so to live in such a society has turned everyone into a real “gentleman”. In a society of such high moral practice, what need is there for people to take precautions (预防措施) against others? The word “foolish” probably means _____________.Why wouldn’t the driver show the least sign of worry? Because _________.The dining rooms in all big hotels ___________.What’s FALSE according to the passage? The sentences “which is which” and “what is what” show that __________.

English breakfast is a very big meal —eggs, tomatoes, tea, coffee….
For many people lunch is a quick meal. In cities there are a lot of sandwich (三明治)bars ,where office workers can buy brown or white bread or a roll (面包卷),and then all kinds of salad(色拉)and meat or fish to go in the sandwich. School children can have a hot meal at school, but many just take a sandwich, a drink and some fruit from home.
“Tea” means two things. It is a drink and a meal , some people have afternoon tea, with sandwiches, cakes and a cup of tea.
They usually have the evening meal quite early, between six o’clock and eight o’clock, and often all the family eats together. On Sundays many families have a traditional(传统的)lunch. They have chicken, pork,… with potatoes ,vegetables…
The Englishmen like food from other countries too, such as French, Chinese, Italian and Indian. People often get take-away meals---they buy the food outside and then bring it home to eat. Many people in England have a ______ breakfast and a _____ lunch. In _____ there are a lot of sandwich bars. The office workers can buy the ______ bread for lunch. What don’t they have when they have afternoon tea in this passage? When they get a take-away meal , they have it _______
